If it’s the first Monday in May, it’s time for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s annual major fashion event, the Met Gala—and more importantly, the Met Gala red carpet.

The event, which is a fundraiser for the museum's Costume Institute, is an invite-only event attended by the crème de la crème of celebrities and the who's who of fashion, each personally selected by Vogue's editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, who will co-chair the event along with Zendaya, Jennifer Lopez, Chris Hemsworth and Bad Bunny.

This year’s theme reflects the title of the Costume Institute’s new exhibition, "Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion." In addition to the theme, which describes the overall concept of the event, the Met Gala red carpet also has a dress code. This year's dress code is "The Garden of Time." The dress code takes inspiration from a short story of the same title, written by J.G. Ballard in 1962.
