Kim Kardashian Might Have Just Gotten Her Shortest Haircut Ever

I've been thinking about Kim Kardashian a lot lately. It's Met Gala season, and the Skims founder always does something interesting on the red carpet, like bleaching her hair platinum blonde the night before the 2022 event and wearing Marilyn Monroe's actual “Happy Birthday” dress, or covering her entire face with a black Balenciaga mask the whole night. Given that we're less than a week out from the 2024 Gala, I've been keeping a close eye on Kardashian for potential hints about her upcoming look, and she may have … cut off all her hair?
Let's preface this by saying it's a big Maybe with a capital M. Kardashian wears lots of wigs and extensions to change up her look, so the chin-length, wet-look bob she shared on Instagram could be a wig. But it could also be real, and it would be a huuuuge change for the star, just in time for the Met.
In the photos, Kardashian poses in an all-black outfit, including thigh-high Balenciaga boots, with her signature dark hair nowhere to be seen. Her hair is super short — potentially the shortest we've ever seen it? — and wet, brushed back from her face and just barely grazing her chin. It's not quite a pixie, more like a '90s-style “bixie.” Oh, and it's pastel pink too.
Just two days ago, Kardashian went back to icy platinum blonde with a hint of dark root, and I thought for sure she was going to be blonde at the Met. This could explain the switch to baby pink and the shorter length; bleaching your hair nearly white is hard on your hair, and sometimes you have to sacrifice length in favor of color. (Ask me, a longtime off-and-on platinum blonde, how I know; I once had to go pink for a similar reason.)
Seeing Kardashian with hair this short is certainly shocking, given that she tends to stick with longer lengths, but it gives her an edge and grit that really works, especially with the minimal makeup. Whether the short hair will show up on the Met Gala red carpet is a big TBD right now, but I'm crossing my fingers that it sticks around.
