Writers of the Future is one of the most important writing contests in the field of science fiction and fantasy. It is judged by luminaries such as Orson Scott Card, Anne McCaffrey, Tim Powers, Larry Niven, Jerry Pournelle, Nina Kiriki Hoffman, Sean Williams, Eric Kotani, K.D. Wentworth, Kevin J. Anderson, Rebecca Moesta, Brian Herbert, Doug Beason, Gregory Benford, Robert Silverberg, Robert J. Sawyer, Algis Budrys and Dave Wolverton. In its 23 years of helping new writers and illustrators get started, it has published over 500 new writers and illustrators, many of whom have gone on to become authors and illustrators with successful careers. All in all the Writers of the Future have published over 500 novels and over 1400 short stories since they won the contest. This is the only writing contest that has achieved such stellar results.
