Mat (Matthew Charles) Lloyd (born 25th May 1978 Aldershot, England) is a performance poet and skateboard activist often referred to as 'The Skater Poet', he is well known in the UK alternative scene. He has many achievements under his belt including; winning Poetry Idol, performing on numerous occasions at the prestigious Jazz Café in Camden, Cargo in Shoreditch and the Edinburgh Festival in 2006. Mat is a passionate skateboarder and rides regularly every week, and is often seen at London’s Bay 66 skate park. He sights Gil Scot Heron, Ice-T and Benjamin Zephaniah as just a few of his influences. Mat is currently working with the Consumer Action Group in the UK, Don’t TV, and launching his own non-profit skateboard company Discipline Skateboards. He is a member of the Raison D'etre collective and the Lazy Gramophone Family. He performs regularly all over the UK.
