Liem Swie King Indonesia vs Prakash Padukone India . Liem whose given name Swie King means a person of intellectual brilliance was best known for his aggressive play and the ferocity of his smash. He has won the All England in 1978 and 1979 prior to this AE in 1981. Prakash Padukone however was known as the Gentle Tiger on court and is the only Indian to reach the top of the World Badminton honours by winning the All England Championship in 1980 before Pullela Gopichand became the 2nd Indian to repeat that feat in 2001. In this 1981 AE Prakash was seeded only sixth although he was the defending champion. He came back to beat the legendary Rudy Hartono in 3 games in the semifinals. In the finals he was pitted against his nemesis Liem Swie King whom he had beaten the previous year en route to claiming the 1980 crown.
