Volunteer fire fighter Pete Langley gives Caleb Koch, 4-H Network News, a tour of the 1943 Howard Cooper Fire Truck. The creamy white color makes it very rare because Howard Cooper, out of Portland, OR, produced olive green trucks due to WWII. It was in service from 1943 unitl the 60's and is equipped with a 500 GPM (gallons per minute) pump and a standard 4-speed manual transmission. The truck was the 3rd moterized rig purchased by the city of Port Townsend for $1,300 or $2,100. East Jefferson Fire and Rescue The resource of East Jefferson Fire and Rescue includes twenty-five paid staff and forty volunteers. Equiped with sixteen emergency response vehicles and five support vehicles, the Department responded to over twenty-five hundred alarms in 2004. less
