Jimbo talks with Dr. Marion Nestle about her two books Food Politics and What To Eat. The discussion begins with the politics of food production and why we produce what we do and how that relates to what we eat in America. Marion Nestle, Ph.D., M.P.H., is the Paulette Goddard Professor of Nutrition, Food Studies, and Public Health at New York University, in the department that she chaired from 1988 through 2003. Her degrees include a Ph.D. in molecular biology and an M.P.H. in public health nutrition, both from the University of California, Berkeley. Her research focuses on analysis of the scientific, social, cultural and economic factors that influence the development, implementation and acceptance of federal dietary guidance policies. She is the author of What to Eat: An Aisle-by-Aisle Guide to Savvy Food Choices and Good Eating (2006), Food Politics: How the Food Industry Influences Nutrition and Health (2002) and Safe Food: Bacteria, Biotechnology, and Bioterrorism (2003). less
