Again, thanks to the magic of Flight Simulator 2002 and virtual aircraft designers, we can fly one of the 'airborne trucks' of the Air Transport Command of the RCAF from the 1950's to early 1960's. The Flying Boxcar was the backbone of ATC as it was used for many tasks like carrying airborne troops, cargo and vehicles all over the world. A heavy lifter with its clamshell rear doors, it was always ready to handle any service or emergency mission with little notice; thanks to its crew, the Boxcar did all that was expected from it. This short flight takes us from St-Hubert to Montreal to pick up a vehicle needed in the North, the Boxcar really sounds off with its twin radial engines, compared to the hushed-up turbine engines of today; so, enjoy taking a ride on a classic airplane. This video is dedicated to the memory of Cpl. Claude Desjardins (1933-2005), CC-119 Flight Engineer with 436 Squadron who loved working and flying in this aircraft during his RCAF service. less
