This laptop is nice for having a mobile computer with basic applications (Word, Excel, Matlab, Chemdraw etc) it would be an excellent laptop. It works fine for playing music, and I would only not recommend it as a main computer simply because there are newer computers on the market with better specs. Its still a great computer, the graphics card is an ATI mobile chip which is a bit disappointing, however the inclusiong of s-video out, a monitor hookup, and firewire ports is pretty nice.
