Mixed feelings for some at the Ford Motor Company in St. Paul. The decision to stay open until 2011 is leaving some workers happy to be employed while others who took an early buyout may feel cheated. Despite Ford’s announcement of losing more than $8.7 billion dollars and delaying 350 workers from their first day of Orientation Week, keeping the St. Paul plant open gives hope to workers. The auto-maker company was originally going to shut down in 2009, due to declining sales. But recent sales of Ford’s Ranger started to pick up again… keeping the company running for an additional three years. The St. Paul plant, which has been in that location for the past 80 years, will continue producing the Ranger small pickup. less
