The United States leads the way internationally with 22 total gold through bronze medals, followed by 20 for China and 12 for South Korea. However, staying with recent history, China is number-1 in the gold-medal rackup with 13-golds followed by 7-golds for the US and South Korea has 5 total. US-swimmer Michael Phelps tied the all-time record for most gold-medals won by an Olympian. He reached a record 9-golds after taking 3 of 3 victories thusfar in Beijing. Phelps will attempt to break the record as well as defend his world record and championship in the 200-meter butterfly at Wednesdays finals. The American team took the gold in the 400 freestyle relay, just ahead of France after one French swimmer told the media he would smash the Americans in competition. Two other US-swimmers took the 1st and 2nd place titles in the 100-backstroke for men while on the female-flipside, USA-swimmers took gold and bronze. One Australian female swimmer too ... less
