The United States still leads the pack in overall medals won so far at 29, with China following closely at 27 and South Korea with 13 gold-thru-bronze medals. However, China continues to dominate the gold-medal totals at 17 with Team USA holding on to the second spot with 10 golds. Another exciting accomplishment for Team USA this Summer Olympics is swimmer Michael Phelps breaking an all-time, all-Olympic world record. The 23-year-old won 2 more gold-medals on Wednesday, bringing his gold-medal rackup to 11. He took victories in the 200-meter butterfly as an individual as well as the 800-freestyle relay with American teammates. The previous record for the most gold medals won by an Olympic athlete was set at 9. Russia and Australia followed in the rankings for the individual race while Hungary and Japan took home the silver and bronze for the relay.
