http://www.EmploymentCrossing.com Thanks to a surging demand for increased renewable energy sources, Sanyo Electric of Japan, has announced plans to build an $80 million dollar plant in Salem, Oregon. Set to open in October of 2009, Sanyo will create 200 jobs as it looks to increase solar production 3 times by 2010. The Oregon facility will manufacture solar wafers and silicon ingots used in solar modules and rechargeable batteries. Sanyo North America has a similar operation in California, and produces 70 megawatts of solar cells a year. With expansion in Oregon, Sanyo has forecasted an increase to 600 mega watts to be produced annually. Wafer manufacturing in the States will provide for Sanyo factories in Japan, Hungary, and Mexico for production of solar modules. less
