As budgets tighten and car pools and public transportation gain popularity, drivers often put off routine car maintenance. Although replacement and servicing of many components are based on miles driven, vehicles that are driven less still need basic care. Performing regular maintenance can prevent breakdowns and save drivers money. Industry experts recommend four maintenance items while driving a vehicle less: 1. Check tire pressure monthly and rotate using specified manufacturer's maintenance schedule. 2. Check and maintain fluid levels of engine coolant, engine oil and wiper fluid. 3.
