At an event in Washington, Mr. Hisham Melhem, the Washington bureau chief for al-Arabiya TV, who scored the first television interview granted by President Barack Obama, Spoke to MoroccoBoard TV about what that interview means for future changes in the relations between America and the Arab/Muslim world. Mr. Melhem said that he felt that the gesture amounted to an unprecedented reach-out to the Muslim world by a U.S. President. He said that Obama spoke about his own Islamic connections, that some of his family members are Muslim and that he had lived in the largest Muslim country, Indonesia.
