It was pretty astonishing. Especially astounding was the fact that we were the only ones who noticed or cared. It was truly amazing to see! The bounty of life was in plain view and was dismissed as trivial! One of our absolute favorite books is called "The Starseed Transmissions" by Ken Carey ( http://www.amazon.com/Starseed-Transmissions-Ken-Carey/dp/0062501895 ) and there is a lovely quote from that book about cities that sparkle like diamonds already with those who have eyes to see!
