A train cut through the trailer of a semi-truck when they collided shortly after noon Friday near Azteca Milling south of Plainview. No one was injured. The truck was crossing the train tracks as it left Azteca after being loaded with sacks of corn masa. The cab of the truck had just made it past the tracks when the southbound Burlington Northern Santa Fe train plowed into the Swift trailer with an Oklahoma license plate. The impact cut the trailer in half, spilling masa onto the roadway and in a rain-filled ditch. A panel of the trailer remained on the front of the 14-car, two-engine train, which came to a stop about a half-mile away. The front half of the trailer remained attached to the tractor on the west access road while the back half ended up on the other side of the tracks. The train, which earlier in the day had stopped at Azteca before proceeding further into Plainview, reportedly was traveling 49 mph as it made its way to Lubbock. less
