慈濟到現在，已經是四十四年的開始了，所以時間能夠成就功德。假如沒有這四十幾年前的開端，也沒有現在的慈濟。那個時候，什麼都沒有，而且沒有人，沒有錢，那個時候很苦啊，所以它的名稱叫做「克難慈濟功德會」，是在克難的狀況下成立的。所以「克難」這兩個字，我們不能忘掉，這叫做不忘本。我們要常常記得，當我們很辛苦的那個時候，所以請大家要常常飲水思源。今天的享受，我們台灣真的很有福。我們今天的享受，就是過去有長輩們的辛苦，一路付出，打穩基礎，讓我們今天這樣的平安，而且物資豐富，生活富有，大家都要珍惜與感恩。
