New Orleans, renowned for its musical heritage and lively French Quarter, is beginning to recover, but still many of its vast neighbourhoods have yet to be rebuilt and redeveloped. Eighty percent of New Orleans was flooded as a result of Hurricane Katrina and much of the area lies in ruins, abandoned by a large population who have chosen not to return.
