"Blue Heart Diary", like many of Stephen Mead’s other works, is a poetry/art hybrid, a meditative piece about the universality of struggle, both global and personal. The actual written work is over a thousand lines long with several hundred images, Part One being comprised of digitally enhanced photo collages, whereas Part Two encompasses paintings spanning over two decades. All of these images feature a superimposed "Blue Heart", the protagonist and universal metaphor of the piece, the blue heart being not only an actual glass object, but symbolic of the soul. This slide show set to music is meant to convey the impact of the Diary in a seamless manner which hopes to touch all who view and hear it.
